Alpha SF Resource Explorer:

While browsing the net for a way to check what’s inside an exe before running it, I found this article on “addictive tips”.

“Alpha SF Resource Explorer is an application to view the resources included in EXE, DLL, CPL, SYS, SCR, OCX, AMC and AX files which is a ‘PE WIN32 Executable File’ . The idea behind it is to allow users to view the content of an application’s executable files or DLL libraries, etc to extract useful information. It is further possible to extract icons, images, text boxes, and data handling forms which are included in the above mentioned executable files.” – Read full article here

In a nutshell: This software runs a lot winzip, you get to view all the files, icons, and registery changes stored in the exe.
